Dubai residency visa applications can now be completed via video conferencing

With the intention of reducing the number of physical visits to service centers, the video conferencing service will eventually be made available round-the-clock.

According to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), residents of Dubai can now use video conferencing to complete visa applications and inquire about missing documents. On Wednesday, the project began a pilot phase.

According to Lieutenant-General Mohammed Al Marri, director general of GDRFA-Dubai, residents will be able to inquire about their applications’ status and complete all required paperwork and information via video conferencing.

It is not immediately clear whether the service is available for all visa types.

According to Lt. Gen. Al Marri, people would be able to use the service after applying for a visa first. It is not possible to use it for inquiries that must be made through call centers. According to the report, the video conference service is available in the event that the service is delayed or that documents are missing.

Yesterday, the GDRFA made the announcement that it made significant improvements to customer services last year. These improvements included combining five services into one, analyzing sixty customer experiences, and conducting periodic surveys of customer satisfaction. Additionally, it hired a number of Emirati cadres, bringing the total number of GDRFA specialists to 124.

In addition, the GDRFA met its operational plan 99 percent of the time, with the Partner Happiness Index reaching 100 percent and the Customer Happiness Index exceeding 96%.

In addition, GDRFA announced that it had distributed 80,000 Golden to investors, entrepreneurs, and skilled professionals, a 69% increase over the previous year.

It also said that 32,467 more long-term residency visas were issued in 2022 than in the previous year. This brings the total number of visas issued in 2022 to 79,617, up from 47,150 in 2021.

In 2022, the authority said it processed 62.24 million transactions, including 46.96 million entry and exit transactions through air, sea, and wild ports, up from 37.38 million the year before.

This included 39,267 legal consultations, 40,642 electronic passport transactions, 9.85 million visa transactions, and 4.49 million residency transactions.
