The 13th Fujairah International Tennis Championship began in the emirate, where it had been a training ground for aspiring players for years.
The event is being held at the picturesque Tennis & Country Club Fujairah and is sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). It is being organized by the UAE Tennis Federation.
In the J60 Fujairah tournament, more than 90 players under the age of 18 are competing.
World No. 1 Pavlos Tsitsipas Stefanos Tsitsipas’ 17-year-old brother is one of the best athletes competing for honors at the event.
The championship also features competition from Jonas Kucera of the Czech Republic, Makar Elesin of Russia, Amir Asylkozhaev of Russia, and Bryan Hernandez Cortes of Spain. Only Marwan Al Marzooqi from the United Arab Emirates is competing alongside well-known names.
The girls’ category includes Polina Skopintseva, Sin Yu Che, Andra Izabella Sirbu, and Daria Shubina.
Aditi Gulati, Diya Tamse, Riya Matharoo, and Jannat Chiripal from India are also competing for the title.
The Chairman of Tennis & Country Club Fujairah, Abdul Ghafour Behrozian, greeted the participants and wished them success.
Behrozian acknowledged the efforts and support of the UAE Tennis Federation, which contributed to the success of all competitions and brought numerous youth division players with high global rankings to Fujairah.
Behrozian stated, “We are pleased to host this event, and with some big names competing, fans of the game will relish the matches, bringing joy to audiences and benefiting upcoming players.”

The General Manager of Tennis & Country Club Fujairah, Hania Reggi, stated: The club is now a preferred destination for individual athletes and squads due to the rise in sports following the pandemic.
Hania continued, “Thanks to its accessibility and amenities required to welcome participants and the audience, it is an ideal location to host major sports events.”
The preliminary round matches were also witnessed by Lawrence Carpio, Director of Tennis at LAT Tennis Academy in Florida, who also attended the tournament’s draw.
Carpio praised the facilities of the Tennis & Country Club Fujairah, which are ideal for hosting major sporting events.
In the meantime, the club also entered into a sponsorship agreement to support the development of tennis in the UAE and the young players who participate in tournaments at the Tennis & Country Club Fujairah.
