GOVERNMENT RTA reduces speed limit to 80 km/h on Dubai-Hatta Road

Beginning today, January 12, 2023, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reduced the speed limit on Dubai-Hatta Road, which runs approximately 6 kilometers between Dubai, Ajman, and Al Hosn Roundabout, from 100 km/h to 80 km/h.

In accordance with existing traffic safety standards, red lines will be marked at the beginning of the speed reduction zone to alert drivers. In addition, the 100 km/h speed limit signs have been replaced with 80 km/h signs.

Based on a study that took into account the Hatta Master Development Plan, RTA and Dubai Police Headquarters collaborated to reduce speed. The study provided a forecast of future traffic volumes on Dubai-Hatta Road and detailed opportunities for improvement. On Dubai roads, red lines were drawn at the beginning of the speed limit zone, which covers approximately 6 kilometers.

RTA uses Dubai’s speed management manual, which is aligned with the highest international standards, to continuously review the speed limits on important roads in Dubai.
